Olive leaf extract shown to reduce diabetes risk
A recent clinical trial funded by natural health and skincare company Comvita and the New Zealand Government, has found that taking Olive Leaf Extract reduced some of the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes.
The research found that providing overweight, middle-aged men at risk of developing type 2 diabetes with Olive Leaf Extract for 12 weeks improved the way that that the body managed insulin, an important hormone which controls metabolism by stimulating the transport of glucose and fat into cells.
Olive leaves have been used since ancient times, thanks to properties that help support normal glucose levels. Diabetes is the result of the body not able to keep blood glucose levels in the normal range.
Olive Leaf Extract is suitable for people concerned about blood sugar or healthy individuals looking to maintain normal blood sugar levels.
Participants in the study achieved similar results from using Olive Leaf Extract than with the commonly-prescribed diabetes medication, Metformin. Olive Leaf Extract also acts as an exceptional antioxidant, supporting the immune system and general cardiovascular health.
