Slip Slop Slap… and Slurp!

04·03·13

Antioxidant research suggests we should be adding “Slurp” to the well known “Slip Slop Slap” message on skin protection.

Research shows ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun generate free radical molecules in the skin which damage the skin cells, causing accelerated aging and increasing the risk of other skin conditions. Antioxidants neutralise this free radical activity1, hence the call to Slip Slop Slap, and Slurp.

A very potent source of natural antioxidants is found in our unique liquid olive leaf extract, according to research by the Southern Cross University’s Natural Products Pharmacology Unit.

The latest studies shows that our olive leaf extract is a more powerful natural antioxidant than even the old favourites such as grape seed and green tea.

Principal researcher Dr Lesley Stevenson said: “We found that the [Olive Leaf Australia] liquid olive leaf extract we tested had an extremely high antioxidant capacity. It is over four times more powerful than Vitamin C.”

A decade ago CSIRO researchers found that an antioxidant rich diet reduced the number of skin disorders in some animals.3 Other research has shown that antioxidant creams containing vitamins C or E could reduce some of the adverse effects of UV. It’s easy to remember: Slip Slop Slap and Slurp when you are next buying your sun protection products.
